I had this oak stool for awhile, I was using it as a cutting table. The seat was split and broken. The round table top was from one of those cheapo table with the screw- in legs. I saved the legs for another project , then attached the top to the stool.
I cleaned and sanded the stool and re-stained it in dark walnut. For the top I based coated in black with the top coat of cream. Stenciled the words, distressed again and applied more stain. I cut and painted two boards for added display area.
