As Hurricane Irene approaches, we wanted to provide important candle safety tips. As we all know, batteries only last so long but hand-poured, highly scented candles burn strong! Here are some important tips you should follow at all times for safe candle handling:

- Never leave a burning candle unattended. If you must leave the room, blow out the candle.
- Keep burning candles away from open windows and drafts.
- Always keep your wick(s) trimmed to 1/4" to avoid a large flame.
- Keep your candle on a flat surface.
- Place a hot plate under your candle. Especially when it is burning toward the bottom of the jar.
- Ensure that pets and children cannot reach a burning candle.
